Mr. Vigil is a partner in the firm of Cuddy & McCarthy, LLP, having joined the firm in 1999. His main areas of practice are school law, employment law, constitutional law, administrative law, and general civil matters. Mr. Vigil is also a certified mediator. Mr. Vigil obtained his law degree from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 1999. He was awarded the 1999 Faculty Award as the graduating student who made the most significant contributions to the law school community. He also received honors recognition in Clinical Law. Mr. Vigil obtained a B.A. degree, with honors, in mathematics from Western New Mexico University in 1971. He obtained an M.A. degree from New Mexico Highlands University with a major in School Administration and a minor in Secondary School Curriculum in 1975. Prior to joining The Cuddy & McCarthy Firm, Mr. Vigil worked in education for 25 years in the Gallup-McKinley County School District. He served as a mathematics teacher, mathematics specialist, assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent for secondary instruction and superintendent of schools. Twenty of his 25 years in public education were in school administration. He was superintendent of schools during his final 11 years with the Gallup McKinley County School District. He retired from the New Mexico public school system in 1996 and decided to pursue a second career in law. He is admitted to practice before the state courts of New Mexico, the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico and United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit Court. |
